About

In my work I use various media, creating paintings, objects, installations, performances. I aim to select the appropriate medium and materials for each particular idea. Part of my paintings is a series of works, such as "Black Paintings of Cheerful Events", in which I depict female images on the verge of the horrible, scary and repulsive. The works are continuation of my long lasting interest in the religious-mythological content and images that are deeply embedded in the western cultural perception. I am interested in the point of intersection of the myth and the present day, how the myth turns into a stereotype and how to change the perception of it. My attempt is to find the exceptions, to highlight possible paths of development and apprehension of women outside the cultural cliché. In such a way I disclose the invisible aspects of the feminine world, commenting on the freedom of self-perception and self-evaluation. The aesthetics I develop in my works reflects states of mind and emotionality that are excessive and sometimes unpleasant to the common understanding.
