Biography
Anton Tsanev was born in 1983 in Ruse, Bulgaria. He graduated in "Ecology and Environmental Protection" at University of forestry, ”Sculpture" at the National Academy of Arts and the master's program "Sculpture, Form and Movement". He lives and works in Sofia.
His works were presented in 2012 at the International Exhibition "TRANSFORM" curator: Prof. Stanislav Pamukchiev, Thessaloniki, Greece. 2011 - 2013 he participated with his project "City Portrait'' at the festival "Night", Plovdiv, Bulgaria. “City Portrait” 4 is presented in the exhibition “The Monument - Public Misunderstanding” curator: Lachezar Boyadzhiev, Vaska Emanouilova Gallery, 2015.
In 2017 is his first solo exhibition "Refraction", curator: Vladiya Mihaylova at Vaska Emanouilova Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2018 he was presented in “ART START. Young artists to follow in 2018 ”, curators: Stefka Tsaneva and Vessela Nozharova, Goethe Institute, Sofia, Bulgaria. Collaborations: the scenography of the play "New Bible", directed by Ivan Dobchev, Sfumato Theater (2018), project # MONUMENT 1, the first woman monument in Sofia - action of Irina Tomova / Erka, a project in public space, together with Bulgarian Helsinki Committee and FINE ARTS (2017).
About
For Anton Tsanev it is important how ecology deals with the interconnections between systems in space, and how sculpture deals with space as a system. He takes different approaches in his work, where technique and instruments are a common tool behind a concrete idea. As an artist he works in the field of sculpture, photography, video, and industrial design.
