About
In 2017 the founders of three different organizations- Studio Komplekt (cultural management), Creative Shower (design thinking) and Metta (space for rest in the city) united all their skills and experience in a joint project- Generator, Centre for design and innovation- a place for encounters, content creation and project initiation, which main goal is to present good examples from the field of design and their implication for a more sustainable future.
The space is located in the old factory building of Zavod Vitosha, which is now becoming a hub for creative and startup communities. The space is an architectural project of Iva Platikanova. From its inception Generator is designed as transformable space that can easily change its interior to fit different functions and requirements. You can find a bar, a design bookery and a design shop that offers a vast selection of design objects from Bulgarian artists.
Generator is a creative space that encourages the exchange of knowledge and experience between the creative community, the business and the public sector. Generator produces, organizes and hosts various events, exhibitions, workshops and discussions.
Generator’s design program offers personal meetings with representatives of the creative sector from Bulgaria and the world and for the past year it has managed to meet the public with respectful and inspirational international names such as Dejan Sudjic (Director of Design Museum, London), Studio thonik (the creators of the visual identity of Amsterdam), Vincenzo di Maria (professional from the field of design thinking), BIG GAME (product design studio from Switzerland) and many more. They all came as guest lectors of numerous formats produced by the team such as Design IS- series of public meetings with international innovators in design, How to: Workshops - educational workshops that help to acknowledge new skills by using different design methods, Design class with that focus on service design and design thinking process and more.
Generator is both a concept and a physical place that continues to evolve and change with the community’s needs for culture, design and better future.
