About

"Literary Journal” is a weekly printed edition for literature and culture which has been uninterruptedly going on since 1991. Its current editorial staff includes Amelia Licheva (editor in chief), Plamen Doynov, Ani Burova, Kamelia Spassova, Maria Kalinova, Georgi Gochev, Yordan Eftimov, Boyko Penchev. Editors-in-chief thoughout the years have been Edvin Sugarev, Miglena Nikolchina, Georgi Gospodinov and Ani Burova. The journal is established as a dynamic scene for contemporary literature and art, related to processes and occurrences in Bulgarian culture. 

The edition functions as a multi archive and a network of events, faces and poetics of the cultural life in the past three decades. Three generations of authors, that are among the most famous Bulgarian writers and humanists today, have made their debut on the pages of " Literary Journal ". The edition publishes both Bulgarian and translated literature, critical reviews of books, fine arts, cinema, theater, music, as well as journalistic articles and interviews on key issues of current cultural and socio-political situation. " Literary Journal " has over 25 years of experience in the critical tracking of the artistic scene.

Permanent columns focused on current artistic events and phenomena are "In Focus", "Stage", "StoLitsa", "On the Balcony", "Have you read a nice exhibition". The leading artists and designers of the journal have been Stefan Despodov, Boris Despodov, Yana Levieva. Nowadays the leading artists of the edition are  Alexander Baytoshev and Damyan Damyanov. " Literary Journal" retains its pages as an open field  for experimentation, it initiates a series of workshops aimed at young and debuting artists not only in the field of literature, but also in the visual arts and philosophy. The newspaper offers artists and intellectuals a spot, which is free from the imperatives of mass culture and post-totalitarian ideologies.
